Dr. Cynthia Jo Brown was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in Athens, Georgia. She has always had an affinity for animals for as long as she can remember.

She worked as a kennel assistant for about 14 years at a private practice, 2 years as an Animal Health Technician, and 13 years at the University of Georgia as a large animal technician and instructor of surgery prep. Dr. Brown then obtained her veterinary technician degree in 1976 and worked as a technician for 14 years.

Dr. Brown attended ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College), majoring in Biology. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science in 1986 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1989 from the University of Georgia.

In February of 2003, Dr. Brown opened Aiken Animal Hospital. It is important for her to give back to the community and she is passionate about providing the best care for our canine and feline patients. She has recently retired but does return to the hospital often to fill in with our team as needed.

Dr. Brown is a member of the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) and SCAV (South Carolina Association of Veterinarians). She is a "jack of all trades," with a particular interest in reproduction and surgery.

Dr. Brown is owned by several Standard Schnauzers and she enjoys raising and showing Standard Schnauzers with a close friend. During her time off from work, she goes bicycling and likes to travel.
